Notification of industrial action has been received for a partial withdrawal of services at Awanui Labs from Monday 28 April to Sunday 11 May.

Biochemistry

• URINE tests are restricted
• DO NOT submit urine samples for routine biochemistry tests. This includes both random and 24-hour urine collections. Testing may be declined for routine requests.
• Urgent Urine requests will still be processed if clear clinical details are provided
• Requests for urine samples on pregnant patients will be processed, if clear clinical details are provided.

Histology

• Turnaround times may be extended and results delayed.
• Urgent requests can be processed if clear clinical details are provided.

Microbiology

• Turnaround times for genital swab results may be delayed.

Collection Centres

• Advise patients to use the online booking system to make a blood collection appointment
• Avoid using the call centre to make a booking.
• Expect longer than usual wait times.
